INTERVIEW with Downes;
Odium are a band you may have heard of, or even heard, but never really cared
for. The appeal of the sound is that of totally and utterly raw sound, the kind
that makes Ildjarn fans wince, slowed to a crawl at times, almost devoid of
vocals and other more traditional elements and record deal worthy / shitty
items. Regardless of the slandering from people calling it Kvlt music for
retards (who usually just cant accept some psychos do like utterly foul sounds)
Odium has stuck out for a good few years for being both shit and brilliant at
the same time in its own little alienated world. Read on for the words of the
wondrous P. Knight and his odd little world, and bring mushrooms as they will
always help:
Greetings P. Knight! Thank you for the interview and congratulations for
creating such excrement covered nightmares for so long. I will try to cut
through the drab and dull questions first and get onto the meat as we go along.
Excuse some of my wordings though as I am in fact a halfwit and constantly
drunk.
First up, can you describe the audible essence of Odium to the lucky many who
have not been vomited upon by your sounds, and also the where and why Odium was
created?
Hailz and thanks for the interest. Odium is what i want to hear. Dark, dismal filth
vomited forth by more passion than talent. I am by no means the worlds best guitarist,
bassist or drummer, but hell, ill give it my best. I think this kind of sums up my
entire personality. Enthusiastic and maybe a bit tone deaf? At the end of the day i
would still make music if i was the only one to hear it, sitting in a candle lit room,
rubbing one out.... Why did it begin? Well, i heard the musical styling of the devil,
i dropped one in my pants with sheer glee and went out to purchase myself the necessaries
to homage him. My guitar cost me less than 20 quid and was a complete wreck when i got it.
Still is.
You play self proclaimed “Minimalistic Black Metal” Is this music style (if you
can call it so) one you class yourself as singularly or as part of a collective?
Also, while on the subject, how do you feel about modern Black Metal and all its
splintered offshoots (depressive, orthodox, Death/black, Excremental (the joy of
the Belgium/Dutch brown), black noise etc…)?
I care not describe my music anymore. Labels are not my concern. My music lyrically
is about murder, hell and my mind getting there. But enough of that. Modern Black metal...
Lost its touch. Its all become too bland and nice. Pretty to the ear production values
and such. But on the flip side you have dismal recordings that are simply terrible that
lack in atmosphere. Basically im becoming harder and harder to please. To give you an idea,
the albums that chub up the beast in my pants are Dawnfalls Dominance of darkness,
Darkthrones Under a funeral moon, Pyres Unziet...., Ravens F.M. , Barathrums Hailstorm.
Basicly great albums that have atmopshere. Something lacking in todays efforts. Maybe im just
being stubborn? There are of course bands that still put out amazing albums so really im
just contradicting myself. Will I ever stop rambling? I suppose what im trying to say is that
its getting harder to find those truly amazing recordings these days.
You are situated in Wales and have always been so (as far as I have known). How
has this influenced you if in any way at all?
I was popped out in Bristol. Then after being brought up in the city moved to wales at the age of
seven. Within the first day a toad had pissed on me. I was here to stay. Here i can be alone. We
have remote coastlines, caves, woods, valleys, castles, basically anything that you could wish
for. I like nothing more than to wonder though the woods with some Black metal bashing against my
ear drums. Or sitting alone on a cliff in the rain whilst the spray from the grey waves rains down
upon me and the moon struggles to shine through the blackened clouds. I get a lot of inspiration
from living here. My days are spent outdoors. Be it surfing or crawling through newly discovered
caves or exploring new found church ruins, castles or forts.....
Odium don’t make albums so to speak, but only demos where the highest grade you
will see the physical side of Odium to be a piece of card wrapped around a CDr.
Is this intentional to match the minimal music, or is it more of a budget
related item? Also, would Odium ever consider doing a full professional release
(at the time of asking that is)?
Who would piss away their money releasing my crap? I would like to see my filth immortalised but
there we go. One day i might get good at what i do and this may happen? Ha.
2006 has been a quite active year for Odium, or at least so in the rate of
releases considering there are a good number of years between other releases. Is
this a sudden spate of creativity or simply older material being released?
I was going to have Solitude released as a split with Austria's Uruk Hai on some american label on
CD. This all fell through by the time Death was recorded so they both came out at the same time really.
Ive lost the use of my drum kit at the moment so the next bunch of odium tracks will probably have
the drums recorded from the back of a van in the middle of no where. Or from deep in a cave, though
i cant imagine that would be the best idea ive ever had.... At the moment my uncreative energy is
focused on my other projects...........
You own a label named Odium records (www.odium.org.uk) which seems to specialise
it raw and filthy but undoubtedly interesting stuff. Do you have a set mindset
to what you release or are quite open to variation?
I dont release other stuff anymore. Nothing i ever put out was that brilliant anyway. Sure it was good,
but in the end wasn’t worth the hassle of spreading. If something comes along that makes me involuntarily
ejaculate then sure, ill make an effort to release it. Till then its just a name put on my the shite that
i record.
This is a little cheeky, but I thought I would ask. The Hatred demo had a bit of
a lashing in reviews and, it has to be said, it was a bit crap in places (Just a
personal opinion). Was this an intentional thing, a bit of bad luck, or me being
a very cheeky cunt?
Hell, it was my second demo. Still and always learning, trying out new things. A lot of that demo was rubbish,
but there are some gems in there. Tracks i should maybe of just singled out and the remainder discarded.
There are moments in that demo that make me cringe....
While on the subject of criticism you often find that even the other Odium
releases are torn to shreds for their production values and minimal playing
style. While their reviews are usually accurate (but for the wrong reasons I
find) do you find it amusing people try to put Odium on a parallel with bands
such as Emperor, Slayer or Children of Boredom… erm… Bodem?
Its nice to know that people are so astounded maybe by my ineptitude that they feel they need to tell
everyone else. At least there being honest and not sucking my balls. I do what i want to do.
The UK is an interesting nation (if you wish to be associated with smelly
England) in many respects and its more foul musical elements have sprung up in
recent times. How do you view the scene here/there/everywhere compared to in the
past, if you do view the scene at all? Odium seems far more isolated (in sound
at least) then most to myself, but that’s words from the keyboard of a drunk
man.
I dont socialise with anyone into the same music as me. There arnt any….I do hang out with some people
who listen to Death and thrash etc. But they have no influence on my music. so i suppose i am quite isolated.
I do have a fairly active social life. I dont sit at home with my thumb up my shitter sucking pebbles. What
that has to do with anything is anyone’s guess. Im just being foul. As usual.
Also, on the subject of peoples in the UK, you worked with Emit for the
recording of drums on the Dark Gods demo. How do you feel this turned out? I
remember asking this before once, but I have drunk and slept since then.
My drumming for that had its moments. But it was mostly a confused mess. I would do it better today than
back then as i have learnt. Back then i locked my self in a dark room and went a bit crazy. Its not the
easiest music to drum to....Apparently that release is coming out on CD at some point.
I notice there are some new tracks online on the label site. Are we to expect a
new Odium release soon, or will this possibly just happen when it will? Also
(even though there is little point asking) what can we expect?
Ive a couple of tracks that are not released. Very slow drumming with lots of reverb and droning guitars.
Maybe ill smear some more shit on them and put them out.... And then of course one day ill get around to
recording more drums...
One of the tracks I notice had a drum machine (or very electrical sounding
drum). Is this an incomplete track, or will the demo use a machine on it?
The new track is La Bete. I may change the name though. Its me and a drum machine. I find it difficult cos
i never write songs. My normal writing style is to drums until i fuck up. Then take all the riffs ive been
playing around with, discard them and improvise a song. With La bete i try and write songs but usually
get bored phaffing about with the drum program. So i just write the song around what ive got. Im usually drunk
when i do it and each song takes a couple of hours from conception to completion. Ill go in with absolutely
nothing apart from a head full of alcohol and energy and come out with a song. Crap as it might be.,...
Also, on new releases, is there any info on the Tape Christcrusher will release?
I head from Herr Chemosh it will be a split with Kriegphilosophie, or is he
pulling my drunk leg?
There is indeed a split planned. For when who knows.
Certain people for inspiration when creating odd ideals / art / dogmas etc… turn to consumption of un-orthodox
materials. Poisoned mushrooms, inhaling the smoke from herbs, eating soil from old places etc… For some reason
I can imagine Odium living in a cave eating spiders and woodlice. Have you ever indulged in such a thing?
If not, I advise woodlice.
I only so far have turned to alcohol and caffine. Boring I know, but there we go. Ideally I would be a hermit
living deep in the forest eating leaves and making music with stuff that I find. A guitar made of tightly
wound horse hair as strings, a hollowed and bound log for a sound box. Drums made from logs and the skin from
my fallen animal brethren. That sort of thing. I know i drifted from you initial question. And back to reality,
just alcohol. Why would you recommend woodlice? I used to be fascinated by these dead woodlice trapped behind
a plastic sheet and a window when I was a wee sprog. I never had the urge to eat them.
You know what a bass guitar is! Congratulations for actually having the balls to
use it! That is not a question, that’s a complement, but feel free to react.
Im becoming a big fan of my fat stringed friend.
Ok, I think if I take up any more precious space I will have my lungs ripped out
by other forces (thrash fans). Any foul last words to give the odd people

Hails P.Knight! Just as introduction, when did Odium start and what was your original purpose
for its inception?
Odium began back in 98, me, alone, in the dark, picking up instruments for the first time
with no previous expereience with the sole intention of makeing darkness!
Wales is a very dark, desolate landscape when you get outside of the cities, in particular
where you live, how much does this influence Odium?
Carmarthenshire, follow the m4 till its demise and then some till one reaches the dank that
is is carms. ( head west. ) One can be alone here, i know of many places to dump a body.
This place can be influental indeed in my dark creations. A follower of all things nature,
not a hippie. Hippies need to bleed till blue then beaten till dead. silly people all around me.
Everwhere i look there are people, they make me uncomfortable with there normalness.
To be normal is to be wrong.
Odium has always been somewhat of an enigma in the UK scene, you've been around but never
really raising your ugly head outside of your own dealings, how much care have you taken
over staying underground?
I dont suppose ive meant to be underground, but dont get me wrong, i would never sell out to
a big label, if someone wants my music then they either have to know me, or know someone
who knows me. Ugly head?!? ...... That's not what the dead girls say......
I do feel that im a well distributed act, i see my stuff in more lists than any other U.K.
band. Maybe im just looking out for my stuff.....
You also have a label, Odium Records that releases a lot of dirty black metal and also some
Albion Records releases, when and how did this start?
This all took form with the release of my first demo. If your lucky ill include my discography
thingy here somewhere along with my release list. if you cut a dead person they wont bleed
cos there heart isnt pumping blood.
The distro began with the release of ANUBI " Gods Pantheon " through trades. Never has such a
bad recording been put onto to CD along with a Digi pack layout! Good bye student loan.

The music/lyrics/vision of Odium is extremely dark and often perverse; I know you have a
thing for dead women, where does this come from?
The darkest receses of my mind. Have you ever seen the Spanish short
" Aftermath"? I mention it in every interview. Read them all? Me thinks not!
To find a dead woman deep in the woods would be great! I could drag her back to civilisation,
my finger up her cunt and thumb up here ass, dragging her through the grass,
me humming a tune from " Hatred " But what one? Im not really sick, i just have a twisted
imagination, ive been woken by some disturbing dreams before. Also, i was in Newquay,
Cornwall the other nite and there was this really nice girl, we kept looking at each other,
she gave the sign that she listened to metal......anyway, i didnt do nothing cos im an idiot,
my point? There is none, just that i kept stareing at her,
thinking how i would like to fuck her and what she would look like if i cut her face off.
The future for Odium is looking good, I know you have done a split with two other bands to be
released soon and your label has some new releases, care to do some advertising?
Indeed, 3 way split is out and soon will be the 7 inch split with Profezia from Italy.
I dont care for advertising, If someone is worthy they will be found. I dont wamt just anyone
listening to my filth.
The Odium style/layout is super minimalist, your albums are called Blood, Hate and the music
is beyond simplistic, where would you say the minimalist boundaries are?
I have no idea, i wouldnt say the songs are that simple anymore. Listen to Disgust.
Plus my 7". Ah, bollocks! its all crap.
Can you see yourself releasing a black album with no information and one song? Where do you
draw the line?
1 song? Are you mad? Have you noticed that odium stuff is short, 1 - 3 minutes, apart from Blood,
i think i had a couple of longer tracks on that one, anyway, i cant concentrate that long!
Infact, my concentration lacks so much that i record the drums willy nilly and then make up
the final song structure to fit the drums i just recorded.
Black Metal has always been about the negative things in life, do you live your life by these
ideals or is Black Metal just a pass time? Any last words?
Im Black metal right down to my underpants! My Cars even Black! Im True to Black metal!
Im a lonely person, i like to be alone most of the time.
At times i would prefer to be drinking my self stupid with mates or fucking some nice young girl
from behind in some graveyard. Infact i go wierd if im drunk and in the wrong place.
I got dragged to some pop music nite club by my mates, my excuse? look for some ladys,
Plus I had no one to go to a metal club with, perhaps I should of hunted one down by myself,
Anyway, i caught my reflection in the mirror and i scarred my self, i looked fucking evil!
I wouldnt of messed with me that nite. After 15 minutes or so i just left and wandered about
for a few hours in the dark streets of newquay. Yes i got back just last weekend.
I surf, does that make me any less Black metal? What about ,you fucks who watch football,

no one there knows anything about me! They dont know that i enjoy handling dead people bones,

First, could you briefly present yourself, the historic of the band and the actual line-up?
What’s your discography?
Greetings, Thanks for the interview! To start, I am P.Knight of ODIUM, OCTOBER, ODIUM Records & Depravity zine. About my self, my interests etc are Engineering, Nature & photography. Im 23 and ive been listening to Black metal since 95. The Historic of ODIUM goes back to early 98
when I first started to put together music for myself. Out of this came my first demo “ Blood “.
This was released through my record label on CDR format ( still available ).
It was later re-released by Christ Crusher productions on Tape and is now sold out. The line up consists of myself, I play the drums, Guitar, bass and I do the vox.
The discography; Blood , Hatred & Disgust. The demo disgust will be a split tape with VERLOREN & HAATSTRIJD. It will be Released by myself and SOS Distribution in Belgium.
How can you define the style of your music? What are your main influence ( Past and nowadays ) ?
What are your actually favorite bands? Could you establish a top ten of your favorite CDs?
The music style, I tend to refer to it as MINIMALISTIC RAW BLACK METAL. My influence is from nowhere in particular, Just Black metal. Favourate bands include Masters Hammer, Barathrum, Older mayhem, Lugubrum, Anubi, Thy Repentance, Dawnfall… The list goes on. I just like anything Original that offers new sounds or a feeling when its playing. I cant stand run of the mill Black metal that normally is made for the hell of it or because a record label is breathing down the bands neck. My top ten recordings at the moment; ANGMAR; Planet Satan, MASTERS HAMMER; Ritual, NORTH; Thorns on the Black rose, THY REPENTANCE; Ural Twilight Autumalias, DEINONYCHUS: The weeping of a thousand years, THA-NORR; Wolfenzeitalter, COUNTESS; The return of the horned one, BARATHRUM; Hailstorm, LUGUBRUM; Winterstones & EMPEROR; Emperor.
What do you think of the underground scene in your country ? In Europe ? In the world ? Do you Know the French scene ? Which bands ?
The U.K. scene is growing, or at least im beginning to know the bands personally. Normally you
never see a demo from the U.K. for sale in distro lists, but that is slowly changing, but is still far from a common occourance. Bands I can mention; ODIUM, ORDOG, BENIGHTED LEAMS, S.I.S.T., NIGRESCENT, EXCARNATION & ICHNEUHTIC.
Europe’s scene I feel is strong, but as with Black metal in general I feel nothing fresh is really happening. Others may disagree….. France, I know ISENDORN of Only darkness, Svart Imperium and so on, Plus I know SAD666 and his related bands. A couple of others as well such as ASES, My mind draws a blank here….
Europe’s scene is a good one, with some quality material finding its way out of the Baltic states, Poland and the Czech Repuplic….
Could you tell us some words about your last release ? How did you record it ? Who compose in the band ? And the artwork, did you collaborate to its realization ?
The Material from Hatred was recorded over a period of a couple years, from the end of the Blood session to the near release of the demo. Everything on my recordings is done by myself, Drums, Guitar etc…. the only thing I didn’t do concerning ODIUM is the logo, this was done by the late Lord Ominous of ANUBI. The tracks are recorded on a 4-track, a very old one that’s been dropped and repaired by myself more than once. The artwork, layout photo’s etc i do myself.
How could you convince our readers of buying this new release ? What are its trumps and weaknesses ?
I wouldn’t recommend my recordings to anyone, especially if you like well played riffs with immaculate drumming and well put together songs. But I can say my stuff is different from other releases, you would be hard pressed to find an accurate comparison. Some have been made to ILDJARN, LUGUBRUM, DAWNFALL and Even DARTHRONE, but I feel these comparisons are flawed, Those bands are no where near as good as me! Ha!
This time, Could you roughly describe your main influences in Paintings, Movies, Books, …..aso. Whats the last movies you saw and what did you think about it ? Could you establish a top ten ?
Ah, Movies, Im a huge enthusiast of Horror and gore films as well as Bizzare films like those made by Alexandro Juodorowsky and David lynch. My collection is huge! Friday the 13th, a series of films I grew up on, round my mates house listening to metal getting drunk and then watching Jason Vorhees dispense with teenagers in ever more imaginative ways! I mean to make a couple of films my self in the future. The last film I watched, I think it was “ The Hills have eyes “ By wes craven. In fact his early film “ Last House on the left “ is a great sick film that is banned from general release in the U.K. I also like stuff directed by Lucio fulci, Dario Argento and Peter Jackson. Some of his early films such as Meet the feebles, Brain Dead and Bad taste are cult classics!
At the moment im reading the final chapter Frank Herberts amazing dune series! Awesome stuff. Infact, if anyones familiar with TROLL; Drep De Krisne then you may find this interesting. In the digipack version of this album there is the quote “ If you believe certain words, you believe their hidden arguments. When you believe something is right or wrong, true or false, you believe the assumptions in the words which express the arguments. Such assumptions are often full of holes, but remain most precious to the convinced. “ Quite an inspired thing to say mr nagash, I can tell you it was lifted straight from one of the dune books, Perhaps he should of said so….
Also I like to read comic books of the adult, gore, Weird & Bizzare variety of the such output by Humanoid Publishing.
What’s your opinion about the actual political and economical situation in your country ? What do you think about politics and politicians ? And about the pain of death ?
I have no opinion on politics, it is for me a very boreing subject. Although my country could stop letting Refugees in, Also I fear the Muslims are taking over, not by force but by numbers. I think there plan might be to import there people into a country until there so many of them the country might as well be thiers! Next thing you know thell have a political party in Parliament and because the muslims etc outnumber the Almigty white man, there come into power and so on. Huh, perhaps I did have something to say….
The pain of death, Is there pain before death? If you were being torn to pieces by a bear, limbs flying off and arteries pumping vital life fluids through ones torn flesh etc, then I dought you would feel pain before you die, I would imagine great confusion as the bear pounced on you, hitting you to the floor and tearing your insides out, then Blurs before darkness. The pain would only come if you survived. Accidents never hurt until after you are out of immediate danger. But then there’s cancer etc. Nasty stuff. Ive always thought that the best way to go would be to lose my mind, go completely crazy and not become aware of my surroundings and become lost in my own world of madness, Shit, Am I dieing already…. At the end of the day We are all mortal men, Except for the Vampires…. the only thing we can do is live life to the fullest! Time is running out! This is my outlook on life, It may be a tad depressing for a few, but hell its true!

hailz, would you introduce yourself for those who have never heard of you before?
Greetings, Well to start ODIUM Consists only of me, P.Knight. I also run ODIUM Records, with that the distro, also I have a zine comeing out soon and also my other project OCTOBER.
My music is Raw, Minimalistic and Ugly. Not for the people who look for quality in their music.
where did the name ODIUM come from? and how does it link in with the idea of the band?
Actually when I was studying for my A-Levels, I was doing Law, I don’t know why, anyway the word ODIUM popped up and there we go. It means Hatred Coupled with Disgust, The way I feel about this world and it occupants, There are a few exceptions.
what does the band represent? what are the lyrics about? as the artwork tends to be quite minimal and doesnt really share much with us.
The lyrics are all over the place really and don’t focus on a particular subject, really my music doesn’t need lyrics. The lyrics on “ Hatred “ were composed during a rather fucked up period of my life, the lyrics there dealt with Pain, Nightmares and Vampirism. Darkness in general.
ODIUM is a band which to me resembles ildjarn, so does ildjarn play a large influence in your music? What do you do to prevent from becoming just anotherildjarn clone?
I don’t think its too much like Ildjarn……Although I do like his music, I have thought about mimicking his style, but I cant get the drums right. Maybe one day……
ODIUM records released a cd by a band called Anubi, named after an egyptian god i believe, and so i guess they are taking influence from the egyptian religion. how do you feel about this? Or are you as a black metaller just against xianity?
Im not to sure why ANUBI decided on the Eqyptian theme….. I don’t really care, perhaps I should? I don’t know… It is quite bad isn’t it. Im against all religion, There is no God, Satan, heaven or hell. When I refer to SATAN, lyrics and the like I suppose you could say im talking about the part of me that wants to do bad things like kill and rape women, smash small animals to pieces and masterbate over tombstones. Thankfully I suppress these desires, the thoughts still pop up almost continuasly, but there we go…
are there any other black metal bands from your area of the world as i have never heard of welsh black metal... Welsh Deth Metal yes, but black metal no.
Well, I suppose there are a couple of bands in the wales area, Grim Holocaust is one but im not too sure whats going on there. The Welsh thing, well im not from wales, Born in Bristol. English. I just live in wales cos I like the simple country life…….

Lets see, I believe I outlined it above somewhere, OCTOBER, my Acoustic, keyboard based stuff, this is a collection of recording ive done over the years, Brilliant cover artwork. Also the zine, this has taken such a long time to make, Im so lazy! Ha! Ive just got to print the bugger and it will be available. Also it comes with a cover mount CDR with songs by the bands interviewed.
what can we expect from you in the future?
My next demo should be out soon “ Disgust “. I have about 5 songs recorded, they need vocals, plus ive got some extra songs planned for recording. The only thing holding me back? The Summer! When winter comes, I hope its very soon, I will get back to work recording Blasphemy and hatred in my little dark studio.

If I'm correct, Odium is the Latin for Hatred.
What does this name symbolise for you?
Hatred coupled with disgust as far as i know, ive never bothered to look it up though.
It symbolises my overall opinion on the human race.
I don't suppose many people know anything about Odium,
therefore can you say something about the history of the band?
It began back in 98 with my first demo, " Blood "
" Hatred “ was soon to follow. The tracks were from the end of the Blood session
right up to its release in 2000? Honestly i forget when i put it out.
Then there is " Disgust " Released as a split with Verloren & Haatstrijd. It was put out on ODIUM Rex and SOS dist.
Soon will be the Split 7" with Profezia.
What emotions/ideas do you wish to propagate through your music?
None. I just wish to make music that feels right to my ears. I do not wish to influence others.
How important are the lyrics of Odium to you?
What themes are the lyrics based around?
Could you provide a sample of a lyric representative of your basic ideas?
Lyrics are not my strong point, i dont have much to say. When i do Blurt something out its about Death, Pain & misery among other things.
One unrecorded songs lyrics are as follows;

As far as I know you're the only member of Odium.
You seem to be able to handle all the instruments capably,
so I suppose there's no need for anyone else to be involved?
Indeed, i am the only member, no one else is worthy, it tried to involve others at various times but it justy didnt work, so, its just me, alone, as always.
It began when i wanted to make music, and the only way that was going to happen was if i picked up the instruments and taught my self. It comes as no surprise that ive never had a single music lesson.
Lord Ominous (R.I.P) from the Lithuanian band Anubi designed the Odium logo. Recently he was killed at sea, what do you know about his death,
I just heard something vague about him disappearing on a boat?
His boat sank, he drowned and was found days later. he was on a fishing trip
on one of those big lakes in the U.S. near Canada. Not the most metal way to die i suppose. He was a good bloke, and a lot of help in the beginning.
What in your opinion is Black Metal all about?
What bands/individuals best represent the ideals of Black Metal?
Who know what Black metal all about? Who can say? The dark side of life, the Occult, Truth, Satan...... Its certainly not about Money, publicity and public image.
Who knows for sure if someone is totally dedicated to there ideals. I can say
for me, once i head down a path, i do not wander. Maybe one day ill play some
azubaan Haani at the ripe old age of 100 and think of the good old days, or
about how much of a twat i used to be. Who knows.
What is "real" Satanism according to you?
Honestly i dont know. I would like to find out though, but ive never been faced
with the opportunity.
Give your opinions on the following forms of Satanism; "Anti-cosmic" Satanism as espoused by the likes of the Swedish MLO, religious Satanism as followed by old Mayhem, Malign etc, LaVeyan Satanism etc etc.

I cant say sorry, i hang my head in shame. Now i could of read up on this for this interview, but im not like that. If i dont honestly know there and then i will say so. Im not out to impress.

Destruction is good wholesome fun. I dont think religion should be fought, mocked yes, but not destroyed. Let these people go to church and worship their false idols,
i dont care. Dont get me wrong, i dont support the church, i just dont think the
people who attend are worth the bother. Needless to say though, give me a
flameing torch and i would be the first to throw it in the church.
Why weren't there any vocals on the "Blood" demo?
Speaking of which, this demo sounds quite doomy to me (the drums even reminded me of Abruptum), any influence of Doom type bands on Odium?
No Influence from Doom stuffs. No Vocals, i dont know why. I didnt have anything to say back then. Abruptum creates inspireing works of darkness.
Why do you think the UK Black Metal scene is so small and weak,
being largely filled with joke bands?
Who knows? I would imagine most countrys are filled with Poseur bands.Fuck em, the true will prevail!
What are the best UK Black Metal bands and who are the worst

Untill recently i didnt know that many U.K. B.M. bands. Honestly all i know is the names but not the music. Europes stuff i feel i know better. Everybodys hideing.
Ordog is often overlooked, but to my ears this band does a lot of good work and
there ideals etc are in the right place with thier uncommercial releases and underground attitude.
Don't you think "Suicide BM" has become something of a trend
(I hate to use such an overused word as "trend")?
What do you think about the act of suicide anyway?
Do you have suicidal thoughts yourself?
I am unaware of Suicide metal, probably in the same way that i was unaware of
N.S.B.M. until someone labeled it for me. Suicide, I often think how easy it would be to step out in front of a speeding lorry or Jump of a cliff. But that’s the easy way out, plus the pain in life is what makes it worth living.
You also run Odium records. For what reason did you decide to start a label?
The Anubi material you released was on pro CD,
how come the Odium stuff was on CDR?
The label was started to release my own stuff. Anubi was put out on Pro CD cos im a fool. I should of put it out on CDR, then I could of put out the 3 demo’s and not run out of money. Live and learn.

night sky. What do these things mean to you?
Do you spend much time out in the night?
I enjoy being alone in the country side. Be it dark or light.
Being deep in the woods when its raining is very good for me. I do enjoy the night, but i dont spend as much time out there as i should or would like to.
Do you feel proud to be Welsh or have any sense of Nationalism at all?
Like i keep telling Alex Kurtagic of Supernal, im not welsh, i just live here.
Im proud to call England my home and even prouder to be part of the United Kingdom.
Are you interested very much in Welsh history?
Wales as far as I know is where the real, original natives of Britain were forced out to by Saxons etc...
Not much interest in history really. I listen to information given to me, but
i do not go out of my way to get these history lessons. History though is
written by the winners so who can you trust?
It's often said that the Welsh and English really hate each other, personally I don't care about these stupid "rivalries".
As long as a Welshman is anti-christian I'll consider him an ally.
Any thoughts on this apparent rivalry?
Wales can be quite a difficult place for an English man to live due to the
attitudes towards us at times. But there we go.
Do you practice self-mutilation and if so, what are your reasons for doing so?
No, im far too amazing to mutilate. To cut my wonderfull body would be a crime to nature.
Most people in Black Metal take pseudonyms for themselves, any particular reason why you use your real name?
Oh, it is a pseudonym. My real name is Voices of the dark cold abyss.
What does the future hold for Odium?
7" Split. Hopefully a split CD and who knows. Its hard being an artist.

I am dedicated to the dark path, although i am not a nasty person, i have a very nasty side. This is where i let him rest, he comes out to play when i make music.
